We use high‑quality oil‑based stain (and can use yours if preferred). Horizontal surfaces last 1–3 years; vertical ones last 2–5 years, depending on exposure.

Cleaning is done first, followed by drying—usually a week—then sanding/staining. No‑wash jobs may be done in one day. Stain needs 24 hrs to dry (48 hrs before putting furniture back).

Stain won’t peel—it fades. We recommend re-coating every 2–3 years. Simple upkeep like sweeping leaves and doing a “bead test” (water should bead up, not soak in) helps ensure longevity
