Staining Your Deck

Preserve your investment.
Stain and seal your deck to maximize the life of your deck and protect your investment. Due to sun and rain exposure, your deck will weather, discolour, weaken, and warp over time. Therefore, it is important to put a barrier between your deck and the elements.
Simply staining or sealing your deck can extend the life significantly since it will repel moisture from the wood and protect it from harmful UV damage from the sun.
High quality stain.
Not only will our oil-based stain (with a built-in sealer) make your deck look great, but it will also never peel. In fact, using the wrong product can result in a peeling nightmare that is very difficult and expensive to fix. Consequently, many of our clients reach out to us desperate to return their decks back to their previous glory.
In order to prevent this situation, choosing a high quality seal is crucial. Luckily, we have done the research for you and we know which products are the easiest the maintain (and which also look great!). At Deck Refresh you can always be sure that you are getting the best product and results. After all, we treat every project as if it were our own.
Flexibility.
We offer many color options and will work with you, the client, by giving our advice and personal recommendations. Our gallery has some great example photos of our past work.
Regardless of whether you have an old deck that needs to be refinished, or a new deck that needs to be protected – we can help. Contact us today for your free deck staining quote!

Deck Staining Questions
We use a high quality oil-based stain. However, if a client would like to use their own stain, we can most likely accommodate that.
Additionally, if a client has existing solid stain on their deck, we may recommend solid stain again as a cheaper alternative.
Horizontal surfaces will last between 1-3 years and vertical surfaces will last 2-5 years depending on the amount of exposure to the elements.
Our stain does not peel. Instead, it will fade over time.
For most of our work we manually apply stain with brushes and rollers. This ensures the best finish.
We occasionally use a small spray gun for detailed areas such as lattice, ensuring there is no overspray.
Due to our harsh winters the stain will eventually fade and need a top coat.
Therefore, we recommend a new coat every 2-3 years depending on a couple different factors, including the amount of sun and rain exposure.
