The Importance of Deck Sanding
We have the tools needed for every deck.
At Deck Refresh, we understand that every deck has unique needs. That’s why, we have a variety of different equipment, sanders, and grits to use depending on the situation.
For instance, some tools are used for pressure-treated wood, others for cedar, and some are needed when existing stain is especially stubborn.
Solid stain and paint generally cannot be stripped off. Hence, these projects require heavy sanding. This will remove the existing stain prior to an application of our high quality semi-transparent stain.
Improve the finish of your deck.
Sanding will also smoothen out your deck. Therefore, if you often go barefoot on your deck, have small children, or are worried about slivers then deck sanding may be right for you.
In particular, older decks benefit from a thorough sanding prior to staining. This is because older decks develop a rougher, more porous surface area. In addition, sanding will lighten up an older deck for optimal aesthetic results.
We give specific recommendations.
Some homeowners may want to rent a big floor sander to do a large wooden surface like a deck floor. However, floor sanders can only sand surfaces that are perfectly flat, and deck boards are slightly curved. Thus, they will not be able to reach the entire surface of most wood planks. That means they could damage the curved parts of the board. Meanwhile, some sections may not be sanded enough.
Of course, every job is different. Given that, we will inspect your deck and provide our advice and recommendations. After all, we treat every deck as if it were our own.
